The Board of Trustees are excited to announce the 233rd Effingham County Camp Meeting at the historic Effingham County Methodist Campground.  Over the course of six days and nights, we will have the privilege of gathering with others for worship and fellowship as we discover deeper truths regarding "God's story, our story, and God's glory".  This year, the daily preaching and teaching messages will be led by Bishop Lawson Bryan, beginning on Friday evening, July 14 and continuing through Wednesday evening, July 19.  We will once again be blessed with music under the direction of Anne Finch, occompanied by Rev. Ralph Long on piano.  At each evening worship service, the children will be blessed with a message just for them lead by Rev. Matt Finch.  It is going to be a blessed week of worship and fellowship. We look forward to spending this time with everyone as we discover what it looks like to proclaim "our story and God's glory".

Since 1790, the Effingham County Campground, presently located on Business Highway 21, has been the premier destination in south Georgia for Methodists to gather in honor of their Lord and Savior. This camp meeting, locally recognized as the oldest camp meeting in the United States, is held in July each year. Preaching, singing and fellowship guide the six-day long journey under the summer sun.

Along with the primary six-day fellowship event each July, the Effingham County Campground site hosts several year-round activities. From weddings, group reunions and fall festivals to activities for children such as an Easter egg hunt, the campground holds any event cloaked in a Christian atmosphere.

The Campground is operated by delegated Trustee representatives from each of the United Methodists churches in Effingham County. The Trustee body governs all activities, improvements and financial decisions.

We welcome you to Effingham County and invite you to experience the history and holiness of the Effingham Campground...a place where the heart is strangely warmed.
