Since 1790, the Effingham County Campground, presently located on Business Highway 21, has been the premier destination in south Georgia for Methodists to gather in
honor of their Lord and Savior. This camp meeting, locally recognized as the oldest camp meeting in the United States, is held in July each year. Preaching, singing and fellowship guide the six-day
long journey under the summer sun.
Along with the primary six-day fellowship event each July, the Effingham County Campground site hosts several year-round activities. From weddings, group reunions and fall festivals to activities for
children such as an Easter egg hunt, the campground holds any event cloaked in a Christian atmosphere.
The Campground is operated by delegated Trustee representatives from each of the churches that serve together and are part of the Effingham County Methodist Campground Association, Inc. The Trustee
body governs all activities, improvements and financial decisions.
We welcome you to Effingham County and pray you experience the history and holiness of Effingham County Campground...
a place where the heart is strangely warmed.
